Staff is used similarly.
You have to hold down the button/key until its fully charged, let go and selected spell is cast. Unlike Take Aim (damage varies by how much you charge it), if you let go before it fully charges.. it doesnt do anything, so staff spells must fully charge before being released.
Only exception is the basic staff skill, which just point/click like all the others.

That helps me too...I thought the Staff would be hard... #.#
