Yes, that's correct. The place looks like a Spanish mission, which might explain what kind of "Fathers" they're talking about.
A few other interesting Spanish words in the game: Tortuga = turtle! Isla Cangrejos = Crabs Island Isla Perdida = Lost Island Isla Tormenta = Storm Island
