I agree with Skirata that's sounds more like they are looking at your level rather than you. I am assuming of course that your GM pirate is a high level one. I would do what Skirata is suggesting and offer them one of your officer pirates.

I am not familiar with that guild so I can't say much about them. Guilds should be looking for good people/players not what level you are. Also as GM your first duty is to your own mates in my mind.

Edit: Guilds shouldn't be about numbers or how many high lvls you have in it. It should be about friendship and fun, respect and helping each other. Anything after that is gravy! mmmmm gravy...
