Muerta is feminine. As in She is dead = Ella esta Muerta. Muerto, as in dead man. Muerte is Death itself. If they would add Del or De La it would make more sense.

Most of their translations are a bit incorrect. Isla de Muerta makes no sense in spanish. Some in-game translations are very very wrong. Someone says in-game "Via con Dios". That means Road With God. It should have said "Vaya".

Which brings another issue. It occurs to me that some of the movie places and in game spanish might be wrong because the characters were saying the words wrong. I mean they were pirates and I highly doubt their spanish was any good to begin with. However that is the easy answer to some of this stuff. They should have have a bit more attention to some of these details both in-game as well as in the movies.
