I am only pistol level 3, I always use my cutlass. I would love to buy a dagger but they are all red and say I need to train for it, I am level 10 if I didn't lose more of my points, they seem to go down for some reason. I tend to freeze after playing for a short time and then life takes over (work) and I do not get to play much.
