I posted this somewhere else before but I will once again tell you how to prevent POTC from using tons of ram for no reason.

AS soon as you log in and choose your pirate and pop up in the game.

STOP

press the windows key on keyboard to pop you out of the game and on your desktop (PC) this has zero impact on the game and simply pops you to the desktop nothing more. then press (control/alt/delete to bring up the task manager (windows XP) and click the second tab at top (PROCESSES) then scroll down and look for the LAUNCHER.EXE right click and select end process.

DO NOT select end process tree as it will shut down POTC.

The launcher program is only needed to start the game once you are in the game it uses lots of ram and it is the means by which Disney uses sub routines to rifle through your PC while you are playing. WHY? don't have a clue but most likely they are checking log files and chat files for whatever reason. Once I was told by another pirate awhile ago that the launcher program had a MIND of its own and was hogging resources I simply turned it off.

been playing for over 100 hours with it not running and it only speeds up the game play more then buying a new video card. specially in privateering.

Never been booted since then.

For Vista users you may need a couple of different steps to access the task manager and quite frankly I don't use Vista so you will have to start a thread and ask for directions to do this on a vista OS
