I would start with the War Galleon for plundering (holds the most)...however it does not have the hull strength of the War Frigate nor does it have front cannons. The rear top cannons on the War Galleon can fire almost completely forward, it's just harder to see your target. Get a nice size crew and stay far away from enemy ships when blastin' em.

My purchases for my last 3 pirates have been War Galleon first, then War Frigate and last but far from least the War Sloop (great for speed and SVS and fun to sail).
