Thanks guys - I have to agree it was a splendid success. Extremely fierce competition on the waters today. I've a feeling there may be a rematch next month...

I noticed several interesting tactics that were not obvious beforehand. Ships with smaller crews fared far better at a speed and aim. (The ship I was sailing was blinding fast with crew of 2, molasses slow with crew of 8. All my broadsides misses were when large crew was aboard.)

I was also surprised that war sloops fared as well as they did. It was a race after all. Even though I had to stop the war sloop for most targets to take a second, third and sometimes fourth broadsides shot, the ship speed made up the difference. When I've done this in a war galleon, I rarely - if ever - have to take a second broadsides shot...but crawling too slow to the next target makes more of a difference, apparently.

Lastly, I found that with two or more people, calling out the number of ships sunk in crew chat after every ship sunk, helped keep count tremendously. With cannonballs-a-flyin' it is much tougher than one might imagine. I was very pleased to see that nobody brought their ship into port with only 99 ships sunk!

Thanks again to everyone who sailed today! Well done!
