On my first pirate, I did grenades last. MAN I wish someone had told me to master grenades first. (Actually, I think several people did, but I just didn't get it.) On every subsequent pirate, I make a very serious effort to master grenades as soon as possible, since it was so unbelievably miserable, the first time around.
Once grenades are level 25, you can visit Joshamee Gibbs and start the Black Pearl quest or even start grinding on other weapons. But if you don't do grenades and only grenades first, you'll be very sorry later. |

I know I told everyone not to do that, Edward just never listens, haha, J/K.
First off we have had a phase change, in using hex shot and killing three molusk at once. = gone. Original poster, cranking doll up, or for that matter, doing grenades all up, will draw out your game play later. Unless you plan on using invincibility or something, you work at one skill a time means one thing. You kill the same thing over and over for that one skill instead of killing it once for several skills at once. Darkhart is easiest example. Kill for 100 point in grenades, use a ton of grenades. Do it many times to get a level. Or same thing, but use throw dagger, staff low hits, pistol low hits, grenade low hits. Switch back and forth using these skills, near the last life, or letting recharge and second time around low life, go use doll, curse, maybe finish with cutlass. grenade 100 points dagger 100 points pistol 100 points staff 100 points Doll, cutlass some points. So, do one skill for 100 points, or all and 500ish. Take any one of these out, because it is max, is just a 100 points less you could get. Thus the reason to usually keep your skills all around the same levels. This is with no cheating, other than Darkhart won't attack unless you go melee is considered by yourself a cheat. You added invincibility to this, a easy 600 points for 100 in each skill, join a crew = more. Thus why invincibility could really get out of hand if not put on check. With one crew 20% I think that is like 720 rep a kill, or something like that. Sounds like a task for Edward, get a full crew and take a pic of max crew rep and weapon rep, haha. So who will first post that, hmm? |

IDK - I found most "max rep" exercises to be extraordinarily time-consuming...much moreso than just doing one weapon at a time. On the other hand, adding a "taunt + curse + throw dirt" series to every enemy I could, while grinding, really added up. |

Well this would be a exercise only to get a pic. Crew bonus max is I believe 50%, so 900 rep max, simple.
Knowing of now a few invulnerability glitches still left in the game, I can say this wasn't that tough at all. Getting a crew to stand around and can't teleport to ya, could be more tricky. I would be willing to bet not that many could do it, especially nearing the 40 level. I figure many couldn't help but go max doll or at least one of their skills early on. |
