I would not use the friendship to advance a personal agenda. I would treat them as I would any other pirate.
WWYDI you could have a flag for your ship, but it was a quest item from SvS and you could only do it for one side or the other (French/Spanish)? |

I would get Spanish for one Pirate.. and French for my other one =)
