POTCO has a very kid friendly environment that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. I'm sure many adults also play Toontown.

What I find hilarious is that I meet so many mothers and fathers on POTCO and TT who are embarrassed to admit they play, so they say they play only because "its to help bond with their child", which is a completely reasonable explanation, but then you see that they play 6 hours a day longer than their children.........
At this point, POTCO is fun, and its whatever makes someone happy. If you're 80 years old and love video games, why NOT play? Last edited by Stephen O'Malley; 05-31-2009 at 07:31 AM.. |

I don't think anyone can say that there are more adult players on POTCO than teens.
If you say you've met an adult or a teen then I have to say, "I think you're a weirdo". Why would anyone ask someone else what type of age group they are in a game? I certainly wouldn't respond. I'd even report them for asking me that. I think most of us are smart enough to realize that answering that age group question is "against the rules". I still don't think we'll know for sure if more adults play POTCO than teens unless POTCO passes out a survey. I just don't want to get on a side that ends up being wrong. |

My humble opinion is that if you're too old to enjoy playing then, yes, you're too old to play.
But obviously you enjoy POTCO and TT which means you are by no means too old to play. So my advice is to unfurl your sails, wreak havoc on the seas and enjoy the pirate life! |

POTCO is, like Miss Hexsilver said, very kid friendly but can be enjoyed by everyone. So it doesn't matter if you're young or old, if you enjoy the game, then you're fine. =)
In my opinion, you'll never truly know if they are more adults than kids or vice versa, (although I think that there are more adults). Why do I think this? Simple, kids can act like adults and adults can act like kids, and I speak from experience when I say that there are both... You'll never know the person behind the pirate unless you make that happen, (which I highly doubt anybody in their right mind would allow...), so you never really know if there's something wrong with the person's thinking and what not. Someone who acts 13 can really be 31 for all you know. In my HONEST opinion, age should not be a factor of consideration while playing the game, it's against the rules, and plus, it doesn't even matter. For example, if somebody acts immature, you can assume that they're a kid, but you'll probably never truly know. The bottom line is that these are cartoons, played by real people that you've probably never met. Age is only a number, and believe me, there are plenty of people from every age group playing this game. You're not the only one. Quitting Pirates is entirely up to you, but I wouldn't recommend it. Like I said, if you enjoy playing the game, you're just fine. People who seem to treat you differently because of age should just be ignored. Last edited by AdmiralSavvy; 05-03-2009 at 05:30 PM.. |

POTCO is a family environment, and caters to all ages. Friends and players in the game share their age groups regularly and are not at all "wierdos". |

Is this accurate? Who knows. It would be nearly impossible to get a realistic idea of player ages from an internet survey. Even if Disney revealed an adult/kid ratio based on their information, it probably wouldn't be accurate - there's no telling how many people entered incorrect information when registering. Adults are generally drawn to play with adults. Kids are generally drawn to play with kids. Adults think there are more adults, kids think there are more kids - I think, judging by the posts here, it's pretty safe to say that whoever someone associates with most in the game, that's who they believe makes up the majority of players. |

I'm a pirate whats got kids, too. My boy plays sometimes and even my little girl, but mostly she likes to make the pirates run around and jump in the water. So its sort of a family thing.

I heard someone say, a long time ago, that you're only young once - but you can be immature forever!
My daughter got me hooked on POTCO, although she has long since flexed her mighty pre-teen lack of attention span and moved on, and on, and on to other pursuits. |

My daughter got me hooked on POTCO
Same here...my son got me hooked about a year and half ago...or more. His pirate is still at level 15 and i have fully mastered 2 pirates and am working on a third. I honestly have no idea what the kid to adult ratio is. My guild is all adult and that is primarily who i interact with. I usually go to a quite server so i rarely interact with other pirates other than my guild. it's only when i want to SvS that i go to a busy server and interact with players of all ages. some younger kids are great...others are well, kids! |
