Yah, I can't wait for the new movie. It gives me hope that, even though im looking forward to the "big" one we've been waiting for, i want to see how much new content can be added as an excerpt (of some sort) of the new movie. That should put 2 more years of stuff in it, assuming the movie has some new features lol.

The only way I will renew at this point is with a new story line. I finished it, did the BB, did almost all of the quests and leveled most of my weapons. There was not much else to be done so in late April I decided to let my subscription expire.
I can still get on with basic access but why bother. Until there is a new story line, I guess I won't be playing. I will hopefully await something new and then decide to pay again. I know many of my friends who have done the exact same thing since they are all level 40 pirates now. So sad........ |

Last night I got my main pirate Aurora to Lv. 40, and it took me less than a month to do it, plus I've completed all the extra quests, the svs quests, the clothing quests, everything. That's just sad...

Just to clarify, I'm not in favor of, or advocating, quitting.
As a matter of fact, I'm about to renew for another year. I'm almost mastered on my fourth pirate, and not about to give up now. There is some fun in doing the second, third, and fourth pirate. Each one levels differently. If you haven't tried it yet, give your next pirate a challenge. Try to keep all your weapons within a few hundred rep of each other all the way up. Try to master a pirate without doing any of the Pearl Quest. (and yes, it can be done.) Try to master without doing any of the side quests. There are a lot of variations. Play a game within the game. BUT, I still say that Disney has let us down. There are more and more people quitting the game due to lack of content. When I first started last February, you could almost never find a quiet server. Nowadays, it's rare to find an ideal or full server outside of the first 3 "A" servers. There is less and less for us to do. These side quests and mini games are only good for about a few hours each, at best. I don't think Disney planned properly. I feel that they are spending valuable time developing minor items, when they could invest that time into a major item, like the next story chapter. The level 5 weapons are a waste. Why does anyone need a more powerful weapon, when there is nothing for them to use it on? Why rename old enemies, when all they do is replace existing ones? Why remake the islands, but not add any quests or story to go with them? I have a level 40 pirate who fully mastered all weapons in July last year. I haven't played him more than 30 minutes since then. My other two fully mastered only get pulled out for very special occasions, Boss Battles or major Guild events, or because one is the GM of Dueces Wild, and needs to do guild business. It's a shame that Disney can't give me any good reason to play these characters that I invested so much time in. Once my fourth pirate reaches level 40, (Less than 10K to go) what am I supposed to do? Delete one of my pirates so that I can start over? I doubt it. Disney created the game with the intent to continue development. It is obvious from the title of the first quest. Story chapter, the Search for the Black Pearl. The idea that there are 'other' story chapters is implicit. After 19 months, it's time to give us something new, and something to keep us interested in continuing in the game.

Let that account go basic and make another account and link them, that's what a lot of others have done. Also for those who are bored but care about dxd rankings, you could rank in whatever category you want until new updates come. |

There has been a lack of content but I think we're all forgetting something. The economy does affect Disney. For all we know, they've cut back on the time their developers work to save money. Their job pays good money and the only way Disney would save money is get rid of the game or cut back on the devs time.
I find it sad that we haven't see too much content. I'd certainly like to see higher level enemies. The least they could do is throw in some interesting enemies, like some undead navy and EITC enemies. I'm not disappointed in Disney. Now let me tell you why. How many of you guys have two mastered pirates or more? If you raised your hand and have four mastered pirates, you my friend, are a hard core player. I only have one mastered pirate. I didn't plan it that way but I'm glad I did, or I'd be one of the many players bored right now. I used to play toontown a lot. And I mean a lot! I used to play eight to twelve hours a day on toontown with bathroom and snack breaks! That was for one summer and then I realized I was wasting my life away on a game. Toontown and POTCO take me away from the real world, which is great most of the time. You see, it's not a really a lack of content since POTCO uses the same "content releasing method"(?) as Toontown. POTCO has way too many hard core players that don't want new content but NEED it. If you want to survive the long content waits(about a year and a half or two) then you have to limit your time on POTCO. I mean, yes, it's a fun game but you can't live your life in a game. |

Older folks are more set, do not have the same options at their disposal and while we brought up the issue of economy, dont have the money to go out and do things. Old folks cant run down to the park and play basketball.. etc, stuff like that. Going out and doing things COSTS MONEY! POTCO provides an expensive option to enjoy and keep busy, and interact with your own kids.. fun for the family. We dont have to live our lives in the game to level up and master a pirate, a few hours a day is all it takes.. im on my 4th as well. Plus if it is the economy hitting POTCO thats causing delays then they have the wrong approach, because they need to generate MORE income, not lose income. When I started playing this game it was a world living with 1000's of pirates, the shores of most servers were active and prospering, and those $$'s went into POTCOs pocket, now with the lack of content, their subscriptions are dropping astronomically from my observations, just seeing those on this board that drop into free/basic status because of it. So now they have MORE free players burdening the systems than before, FEWER paid players to bolster THEIR economy, and the 'curve' is falling drastically. True pirates did not do so as a part time job, they sought out adventure, and existence through doing so. They had far more places to go and see, and things to do than we have in the game. I have been approached a few times from folks saying "Why is everyone so negative about the game? They should be positive, they should be encouraging!" This is almost always spoken by the newer folks, the ones that started when all the current content was in place giving them far more things to do than those of us that have been around awhile. I have also observed that a couple months later the same pirates making this arguement/plea turn and start griping about lack of content themselves. The players dedicating their time, and efforts to the game, and helping others, and maintaining paid accounts.. ARE the ones supporting the game, they have a right to complain about lack of progress. Not all of us had the luxury of playing ToonTown from the start and seeing how it progressed. I am positive about the game from the standpoint that I see it has LOTS of potential, and could be made so much more, and I remain here on the forums, and a pirate in the game because of it. We are the lifeblood of the game. We have a right to be disappointed with Disney's seemed to be poor management of a game series that has amazing potential. If its about $'s then they are going about it all wrong. To make money, you get new members, and you KEEP members. Small investments make large gains... They know that. I dont think the economy has anything to do with it. Limited time on projects, and having a difficult time with a core project (ie Kraken/2nd story quest) is likely the root cause. Inability to resolve a major issue after having made promises.. its slowing things down. Hope they get things figured out, because if they havent figured out that the small rearranges arent keeping members, they will soon be shutting the game done due to lack of interest. Hopefully not, summer is starting, kids will be out of school, perhaps we will see a rise in pirate numbers again, but I have doubts that it will ever be what it was 6-9 months ago.. again. |

You can't just "raise the cap". All that'll do is allow you to go back to tedious leveling. Then you reach the point all the enemies are green and the rep comes at a trickle and you're falling asleep at your keyboard. Disney has to be careful about the lvl cap so the story quest encounters are on par for the levels they expect. So they don't want the player population at a way higher level than the content they need to release.
Disney's biggest gaff was grossly overestimating how long it would take people to finish the first chapter. They made the content laughably too easy and people tore right through it. I was wondering why people were going through it so fast as I knew there would be nothing to do afterwards. I was playing it very conservatively and had it done in a couple of months. I hope the next chapter they won't be so shy about increasing the difficulty. I've been continuing to keep an unlimited account hoping the new quests will be out this summer. However, at some point, I'll have to give up waiting. |

Speaking from toontown experience, I try hard to limit my time from POTCO. I love the game and could play as much as I want to but I don't want to make myself bored by having four mastered pirates. If I let that happen, then it's going to be the same cycle everytime there's a big update. Yeah, the game is good, but I would rather limit my time as much as I can isntead of being bored with the game because I can't stay away from it. I've seen people ruin their lives because of online games. For the younger folk, you can't live your life in a game. But heck, once you get older waste it the way you want to. I mean I know I'll probably be playing POTCO my whole life. I'm sure if POTCO can last another ten years I'll be playing it for my whole life. Off Topic: If we survive the year 2026 when a meteor is "supposed" to pass so close to Earth we'll see it from the ground, then I'm sure POTCO will be around for a long time. (Unless that meteor comes so close it hits us.) Sorry, I watch too many nova episodes. Also, very well said Zep. I'm glad I can say I've seen Toontown grow. There have been disappointments with toontown and with POTCO. If you can survive through these disappointments, then you are a dedicated player. |

I've been one of those trying to stay positive about the game. I've made excuses to my guild & friends, I've sought out and passed rumors of new content, and I joined the test servers anxiously awaiting the new content.
And after this last round of so-called new stuff, I give up. I'm keeping my account alive, but I'm not really using it. It suddenly occurred to me that the only reason I even log in is to see the people. Actually "playing" is a chore. I'm moving on, as are several of my friends. My original account was just renewed for a year, so I'll still use it to see friends, but my 2nd account will expire. And, unless something truly new comes around, I can't see myself spending much time there. Sad, because I truly love this game, but I can only repeat the same thing so much. |

I hope this game flourishs, I see it doing so once it progresses as far as ToonTown has. Regarding comments from others prior.. I certainly hope they make the 2nd quest harder, add harder tasks, something a bit more inventive to get through. Even tasks that REQUIRE assistance, that no pirate could do alone for example. Perhaps some instanced tasks that we enter and must complete without dieing or quiting, or we start the instance over. Some challenges beyond getting 10 giant/dread scorpions, 10 sand/rock/giant crabs, 10 undead x,y's, and z's. Add some areas perhaps that lower pirates either cannot venture into or do not dare enter. Raising the notoriety cap would give some higher goals to reach, however if they could think of other worthwhile rewards they may take their place, but more powerful weapons to defeat enemies we can already defeat without them is not going to suffice. |

As Evie, I have my account active, Master 3 pirates and the 4th about to be mastered... I renewed my account in early May for a full year.. the reason why I renew it, because I like this game...I love to help others, have fun killing enemies... I am not a chatter, so I dont use this game to chat...so, lately, I am turning my head to other online games, but keeping my pirate acct. active waiting for the new stuff to come. POTCO is an awesome game, the mistake that Disney made was to make the lvl cap to low and the story to short... let's hope that this awesome game still on for many years more.
