All of this is MOOT for someone trying to run and maintain a GUILD. If the GM is not on regularly and if officers are not on to help or find new players - the GUILD will die.
As seen by the demise of my beloved Uncle's Mafia. The GM did have some family issues to attend to, but moreover there was no reason he wanted to be on. He played other games. Our guild topped 200+ pirates, but only 30-40 were playing regularly (mostly officers). Now - the two remaining major factions of the breakup barely have 5-10 regular players. And I'm sure that ALL GUILDS are suffering massive member loss. So, yeah - i've taken time away and limited my time on, but the rest of my group suffers when they can't find officers to help or mates to talk to. |

Guilds with Guild-Masters willing to be on often, and maintain Unlimited Access should be able to make it IF there are updates. It is all on the Guild-Master though, I seen I couldnt stay in game with no content regularly and dis-banned a very good guild for their own sakes. I knew I couldnt stand it very long with a lack of new things for me to do. I spent nearly 4-5 months doing nothing but helping other pirates level, but as much as I like helping others I gotta have some thing for myself to do to hold my interests. I enjoyed the role playing aspect of the game, but then again that only goes so far...
If there are not some updates soon, mainly a new story chapter they might as well get out the fork to stick in POTCO because it will be done. If they had added some side quests to hold people's attention I dont think you would see so many jumping ship at once though. It would have been nothing to throw in some side quests for clothing, tats, super hard to obtain items etc.... This would have kept a few of us Unlimited while we waited, but they didnt. I know there are people still saying, give them time they are fixing some bugs, they gotta make sure every thing is just right before they release the updates. They have had enough time to put out some information on updates at the least, not just jibber jabber that means nothing from GM's. Every thing that comes from the GM's is not official Disney news. I am to the point I dont even think they have any thing planned for a second chapter quest, they are just taking all the money in they can. I hope this is not so.... I commend all those who are still paying, and trying to hold things down with guilds, you are a better pirate than I. ![]() Larence Tuppington |

They didn't give us anything! Just like the island makeovers, they spent many hours of development time to give us nothing new. What is the sense in changing Grenadiers into Mutineers? Or cave bats into rabid bats? There is no story line, there is nothing new, there is no CONTENT! I had one pirate who was in the middle of a quest to defeat 15 Grenadiers. He had 11 done. Now they are Mutineers, and he still has 11 done. The only differenece is that instead of finding them in the Catacombs, I have to go to El Suderon. BIG DEAL! This update did NOTHING to satisfy any of the statements made previously in this thread. The only hope to hold onto is that this update, and all the new enemies, are being put in place so that they can be used in FUTURE updates, which WILL give us content, cap raises, and the desperately needed next story line!!!

I agree Basil. They took old enemies and switched their abilities/levels with other old enemies, then gave them new names. This is not new content. On test, it took us less than an hour to determine that there was really nothing "new" to explore.
I had hoped that they added these enemies as preparation for a new quest, but they have simply added them into all the old quests. |

I agree with the others here, these recent updates did nothing good, only bad. Removal of quest percentages? Real nice. If they are supposedly releasing a new story sometime soon, where will that get us? As for the account linking, that is their biggest mistake yet. I can see where they are getting at with this, but it is more bad than good. They are probably just trying to make it impossible for people to go on another players pirate without knowing their actual log in, that way they can't misuse that players pirates. But really, who's fault is that in the end? Not Disney's fault, but rather the player than gave out their account - meaning, Disney shouldn't go out of its way for something such as this.
They may have been attempting good out of this update, but they haven't taken much into consideration. Close friends, family, and so on.. all could be linked to one account, taking that away limits it to one person at a time on said account. |

Go here: http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...ad.php?t=11643 and read what others have to say about linked accounts being stopped. Sven Niscadae gives an excellent example of what type of feedback we ALL need to send to Disney on that topic. And as far as removing the quest percntages, SOS, can ANYONE give a single valid reason for that? I have always used them as a guage for how I am doing on the quests. I leveled Lars by trying to keep the Pearl quest on an equal basis with his notoriety. At Not level 20, he was 25 percent on Pearl. At Not level 30 he awas 50%. Now he is 55 rep from level 40, and he is 98% on Pearl. (At least, that's what it USED TO tell me.) I had a goal of hitting Not 40 and finishing the Pearl immediately after. If you don;t have the percentages showing, there is no good way to plan something like that.

Nope, nobody can give a valid reason. I was just pointing out, even more, how pointless it was to remove it. As said numerous times, they are "working on new quests", they must be real "smart" to remove the one thing that helps with said quests. |

THIS is what happened when most of your staff is UNPAID INTERNS.
My only response on the percentage is so you don't know HOW LITTLE OF THE GAME IS LEFT TO PLAY!! That way noobs won't be depressed as they finish the first... No... ONLY CHAPTER. I am happy for the small fixes, but stop taking old crud and trying to shine it up. You polish crud, its just shiny crud. |

It's really frustrating, as a fairly new player, to join up and have this negativity come out. It seems like D isn't just losing old players, but chasing off new ones. I love this game, but I would have quit after my first month if it weren't for my guild.
The question seems to be now, how long until we're all gone?

Lizbeth,
Don't take all the negativism as a statement that everyone is quitting. Frustration is more like it. Yes, there are players leaving the game every single day. There are old timers letting their accounts go to basic, but in a lot of cases, they are just saving money until new content is released, then they will return in droves. The guild you are in is one of those who are still growing and active. Those players (we) are the hardcore, long term players who truely enjoy the game and just need to voice our frustration on Disney for what we see as a lack of activity on their part in providing the content that would retain all of our friends. Trust me when I say that there are those who won't quit playing until Disney shuts down the very last server! They just don't have to be satisfied with how Disney handles it.

I dont like being negative about the game i'd grown to love.
The problem is, that Disney lives in a bubble, and they tend to ignore any negative feedback and focus on the small bit of positive feedback as if its all there is, and gleefully move forward with their false sense of accomplishment. Without the community raising enough feedback to get their attention, they will continue to live happily in their bubble. We need to be strong as a community to break them out of the pattern, and set things straight. No, I dont like being negative, but it seems to be the only way to get the points across to Disney. |

Liz, we keep on playing because we actually do enjoy the game... but more importantly we enjoy the friendships we have formed. I'd still be here til the last server closes. After that, I'd just go back to my Sid Meier's Pirates game. (Love that little game.) We just get frustrated with the so-called improvements. It just appears to be a waste of the developer's time... when what we want is content, not window dressing.
