How do I make my ship public?

When you are out sailing, right above your ships health bar is a little circle with a Dinghy in it click that and it will bring up a box with 4 squares you can select who can board your ship here. For public put a check mark in the box next to "Public" then hit Ok.

me too! I had no idea what so ever!
I noticed the dingy, but not brave enough to click it and find out what it did.
