I would definitely say that they are going to let us change the way our current pirates look. Re-read the notes carefully.

Come February, you will have the chance to give your Pirate a whole new look.

It clearly states that you can give your pirate a whole new look.

If it was any other way it would obviously make a lot of pirates angry and we may have to call mutiny! lol
