Fortunately, they nixed that change in this update. Sailing speed is no longer affected by enemy fire.

So far, I have to say I'm not a big fan of the way the ships look now,(especially mine). I was a big fan of the way they looked before, and all I really wanted was to be able to change the color of my ships sails and hull.
