To use grenades with the new inventory system, you equip the grenade pouch in one of the weapon slots. I was able to get a ton of new, unique weapons: 14 total shooting weapons, 6 swords, 4 sabres, 3 broadswords, plus a Navigation Sea Chart and a Cannon Ram.

And just to ease the tension some of us are having, here are some pictures of the new inventory system I took yesterday.

Cool Sword I picked up.

The attack in the bottom that looks like heal is heal. When you use it you swish your sword around and you get some HP back.

The General left us a present.

All the weapons I got from yesterday. Most are common.

Just a regular loot sack.

EDIT: Forgot to say, when a weapon has a red box behind it, that means you're too low a level of that weapon to use it.
