Weapon Levels, but no special skills???

Hi, I'm a level 22 pirate. I've been working on my weapon skills, and leveling up, but I've not gotten any special skills. When do they happen and when can I use them?
Cutlass level - 9, but can't lunge or thrust. I can only hack and slash. When can I lunge, brawl, etc?
Pistol - Level 11 but only have bane shot. When do others become available?
Vodoo Doll - Level 7 but I can only poke. I can't even Heal other players!!!
Dagger Level 5 - Can't throw them. When can I???
Canon Level 6 - But I can only use regular ammo and grapple hooks. When do I get the cool stuff????

Why dont you press K and spend some skill points? Tell me how many points you have and what you want to be able to do. And I can help you some there.
DONT spend a skill point on Grape Shot, it is only used in PvP ship battles which as you know is not in the game, for now.

Sounds like you haven't been applying the skil points you've earned, or you have been applying them to another skill. Everytime you level up a weapon you receive a skill point. These are used to unlock new skills and make existing skills stronger. If you hover your mouse pointer over the blacked out circles in your weapons stats (presss K to open) it will display at what level you can unlock the skill. If the skill is greyed out, the skill is available to be unlocked but has not had a skill point applied to unlock it.

I appreciate your help! I didn't know you had to unlock them. I thought they just showed up!!! LOL. This is wonderful. I have just about everything now. <BIG grin>
