"Rep-Stealing"... I remember in 2008 when that meant nothing. Then I quit for a couple years, joined again a few weeks ago, and see someone arguing with someone about rep stealing in Fort Charles! "He's a high level, he's stealing our rep," he told me. I told him, "Go to a quiet server," with an immediate response from him, "shut up."
The more attacks you use on a person alone gets you more rep. Whenever I train my grenades at Kingshead on a busy or ideal server, I get less rep then on a quiet server. This is because a large amount of low level people are too busy mobbing the people I'm trying to attack, just to get some rep. They all attack the enemies about one or two times and run away while I am working my butt off to train my grenades and pistol (I rarely use them). They get rep they don't deserve, and tell me or someone else to leave. I switch servers, and they probably get knocked out. Because no one is reviving them. Also, high level people are an issue. They are at Fort Charles attacking grunts with Siege grenades and Banish. Now that is just weird, they only get a few rep! Go to the town area in Kingshead and defeat dragoons, or head to Isla Congrejos and defeat French Undead Capitaines. Leave everyone else alone. |

All your carefully chosen words just prove my point. no one owns the game. Not even you.

What Sven said! I mean whats the point in people going to a busy server and knowing that people are going to come to their place of chosen battle. xD
Also if people are level 50 and they just go to a newbies enemy and kill them with one sweep or one Blunderbuss shot, just to show how powerful they are and show off its just not fair on the other person, especially if they are paying for the game its a waste of their money. My Noob speech has finished. |

busy server vs quiet
I usually go to a quiet server and still had the same problem. As far as level 50's we can't go higher. So we fight to win gold, weapons, and clothing. We are not fighting easy enemies what would be the point. So it's not about how high you are or how low.
quiet server or busy. It's about people ,real people who are trying to control the game. |

There may not be anything stating we can't rep steal. But, it doesn't hurt to be considerate to another player if you see it is bothering them.
The real problem with rep stealing isn't people trying to control the game. The real problem is people not taking into consideration what another player wants. If one person wants to play alone, and another wants to play together. The second person can easily go to a busy server, allowing both players to get what they want. Quote:

I use a much more devious approach. If some very low level pirate comes along and engages in rep-stealing, I inform them that it is generally frowned upon. If they do something annoying, such as continuing to rep-steal, calling me a noob or something else, or anything of the like, I usually help them so their confindence is built up and stand on the sidelines and watch them get knocked out by a Brinescum! Then laugh at them while they scream "REVIVE"
This always works in Tormenta!

Blah.
Personally, I don't mind. Look at it this way. The enemy is not yours. It's a pack of data that anyone can attack. I might be annoyed, but I don't mind. Look at it this way. If someone " helps " with your enemy, you can defeat it twice as fast. That way, you can burn through two enemies in the time it takes you to beat one ( hypothetically ). Which gives you more chances of loot, more gold, etc.

Bad behavior is just bad behavior. I was in menta tonight in a crew with a 50. I was on a 35. Said 50 attacks a guy I am. (Yeah, there were other guys there, he was even going after a different one when he went after the one I was too.) My first response was, Excuse me! Nothing more. He did it again. So I asked him to stop. He starts spouting off on how I don't own the game an I have an ego problem.
Now I dunno, but it seems to me that a fully mastered 50 aught to be able to let a 35 take one guy at a time without having to get a piece of it. By all means decimate the other 7 nearby at once. If someone asks nicely to leave their single guy at a time alone the decent thing to do would be to kill away on the other 7 guys an leave the person who asked, the one dude at a time they ask for. FYI, quiet server it was a friend of a friend. |

My other level 50 loots at Bosses and tormenta because there are no other places to do it. Recently at Darkhart on a quiet server I was looting, two smaller pirates a 24 and 31 came along and joined in. No problem I can share. They had a problem they said rep was too low and told me to leave several times. I let them get a darkhart and few minions on their own. The level 24 was taking a beating. I went to heal and they said do not bother "We are god. " I thought they meant good. But realized their health did not lower. They were glitching and did not want to change server and lose invincibility. The one asked me if I knew how to god glitch. I said " No, but I know I do not need it ." Another reason why some people like to play alone or in small groups LAG. Nothing to do with rep or loot or company too many players in one area can boot some people or create the black screen of death.

This may be the case if you are on a quest or just fighting for loot and you want to be done with it but if you are fighting something for rep defeating something twice as fast isn't what you want. With rep the longer it takes you to defeat an enemy the better.

The argument that the enemy doesn’t belong to anyone and that they are there for everyone to fight has come up a number of times. The problem is that this doesn’t hold water. True enough, none are the personal property of anyone and they are there for everyone to use.The enemies can be considered public facilities, they are there for everyone to use but not necessarily at the same time,
For example,in a public park a family is having a picnic at a picnic table.Another family comes along and wants to use a picnic table, is it okay for the 2nd family to just set themselves down at the first familie’s table? Or would you expect them to find an open table or if there is no other table, wait their turn? Or say there is a public basketball court and a group of people are playing a game. If a 2nd group comes along is it okay for them to just jump in and start shooting baskets? Or would it be better for the 2nd group to go to another court, wait their turn or talk to the 1st group and find away to play together on the court? It is a public facility there for everyone to use. But if everyone uses it at the same time its of no use to anyone. So it is understood that these things are available on a first come first serve basis. Otherwise your just asking for friction and ill will. As in these cases, just because they are there for everyone to use does not make it alright to just jump in and use them when someone else is already using them. |

![]() You see a picnic table and families exist in real life, POTC is a game! Having rep 'stolen' as some put it, can be annoying, but would you not, just find another enemy? It could be that Pirate that stole your rep has been going through servers searching for that particular enemy as a quest? Or follow the pirate that 'stole' your rep and do the same thing back? We are meant to be Pirates in this game, so let us act like Pirates, or ask for a PVP and kick their backsides!!! |

If for some reason this is the case you can take one low power hit on the enemy thus getting credit for the quest but not taking away much rep from the other player. Better yet, attune and heal the other pirate and get credit for the quest that way. Another option is to explain your situation to the other player and odds are a solution can be worked out that is agreeable to both. Quote:
