I was thinking a server could have a special island actually, that contained all of the elements posted above. You would be a ghost on this island until you picked a side though. That way you do not get killed every time you are trying to get to join a team. Other islands such as Port Royal, Tortuga and Padres could have al out wars as well, but I see no true foundation as to what you would be fighting for.
