The only thing in the phase files which deals with the Kraken is the struggle and crush animations for pirates. There is no Kraken model in the game, tentacles, head, or any other thing having to do with the Kraken, currently.

According to the developers, from LAST summer, he's in for a make over, and according to quest text, the Kraken isn't going to be the next story quest, but Raven's Cove will. But the Kraken has had a lot of work on by now, I'm assuming, and here's my estimate.

If the Raven's Cove quest comes out by October 31, the third year for POTCO, I would assume the Kraken would come out around March of 2011. Why? Because the Raven's Cove quest is probably a side quest that's been being worked on, while the Kraken actually involves movie actor voices, and Davy Jones, along with a lot of cutscenes, which aren't easy to do. At least if Raven's Cove comes out around October, or a little after, the Kraken and story quest that goes with him would have about five months to be worked on.

They could even work on Ship customization in between the two quests, and that would keep us really busy, along with new ships.

I went off track, but I'm just saying, the game is starting to roll along, now. At least it feels that way. Give the Kraken time, we want awesome cutscences, and an awesome boss battle. The more time the developers work on him, the better.

You're right mate about the Raven's Cove quest being the next story chapter, and a side quest... and that the Kraken is the actual next big chapter. There will, as you said, be more cutscenes for the story quest. It will probably start off with the Headstone aye? I doubt that the Kraken is still being working on. They probably are done with it now, but only slowly releasing all the icing for it. If they were working on revamping the quest, they would have probably been done with it long ago

Now on what you said about cutscenes. I don't think that they involved any movie actors in the voicing of the characters. I have only heard that Joshambee Gibbs was done by his portrayer Kevin McNally. I doubt that they are going to involve Bill Nighy in voicing Davy Jones.

The phase files... As far as I have seen in the phase files... There are Kraken skin textures, Kraken battle sounds and a minor song, and I believe I saw some models of the Kraken. I haven't gone with depth into studying the beastie..

But this is all coming to something I see. They're updates certainly have been rolling since... well Invasions? Idk. But they have stalled ALOT. They put the Invasions of each main island into 3 different months! They planned to release mini games at once but then rolled it back just to stall-release one island! They told us so many times that new islandS were being worked on, from their blog "digging for new treasures" to NPC hints. Probably Raven Cove will just be one island for this side quest, followed by MANY islands for the Kraken-Jones quest. Again, I don't like how they stall so much for updates.

I agree, and I just wanted to point out, before the Kraken can even come, don't we need more islands, such as the wild native island in the movies? And what about ship wreck cove, singapore, or some other random islands?

What's the point in releasing the Kraken and a quest for him if we need to go back to the same old islands all the time?

Exactly. They are building up to something. This all started way back when with the first Casa De Muertos quest that was on Port Royal. That led up to invasions. Finally, when it came time for Padres to be invaded, they introduced El Patron's lost weapons (and I think I'm wrong, but wasnt this around the time when they added LOADS more EITC ships into the seas, and later took them away? Cant remember...). Once they started saying how Jolly thinks that El Patron's Weapons were on Padres, they said that they werent, and that they were on a place called Raven's Cove, and that introduced both Raven's Cove and Treasure Fleets, or Expedition fleets as they were called at the time. Then they released El Patron's weapons, and are adding more in the future (daggers soon, and staffs hopefully in the future). Then they added the minigames... not really sure how those guys fit in much, but oh well. Now they are adding Raven's Cove! As Midhav said, they are following a little story line, and I have a feeling that this is going to build up to the next story chapter eventually.

Sorry for blabbering on, just wanted to say how they are building up to something.
