Jolly the Dead Man by Eliza Creststeel

Jolly the Dead Man Was a rotten vile soul
With a bladed hand and a hooven leg
And a face that was made of skull.

Jolly the Dead Man was a fairy tale they say,
He was made of bones, but the pirates
Know how he came back to life one day.

There must have been some magic in that
Voodoo man he killed
For when he made the shaman dead
His soul with blackness filled

O, Jolly the Dead Man
Was as dead as he could be,
And the pirates say he could slash
and slay just the same as you and me.

Jolly the Dead Man knew
Tia's voodoo was strong that day
So he said, 'You run or
I'll have some fun
Making your soul decay.'

Down to Tortuga
With a cutlass in his hand,
Running here and there all
Around the square saying,
Stop me if ye can!
He chased them down the streets of town
Right to the barricades.
And he only paused a moment when
He lit the cannonades!
For Jolly the Dead man
Had to hurry on his way,
But, he waved goodbye saying,
"You'd better cry!
I'm coming back again someday!!"
