Dire wasps are on rumrunners isle to the left usually when you hop off ya boat.

There's one on Port Royal, by the graveyard where you start, in a place called King's Run...
Besides that, you can go to Driftwood Island for a bunch on the hillside, or Rumrunner's Isle.... Isla Perdida has some, thought it may be a bit dangerous for you...
