That was my thought as well. If it bugs people so much don't revive and tell others and even the low levels themselves you are not reviving, eventually the "problem" would take care of itself.

Well, I have played other MMO games and there are some restrictions no matter what. They should at least make it so you have to be a certain level to be a GM. I always see a ton of level 20's... Sometimes, even pirates in the 10's all GM's. Not that it gets annoying, but still.
Anyways, I could go either way on this. But there could be something for both parties. If basic gets more privilages, like getting their weapons higher, or be able to recruit past James P, then maybe POTCO could take away some stuff that the basics wouldn't reach for a long time anyways. Like RC, or Tormenta. I mean, what reasonable level 20 would wanna go take on some Thralls? Or Kelpbrains, etc. So POTCO could give basics more stuff unlocked while a low level, but take away stuff for them that a high level would do. I think adding level restrictions is really based on how you see the game.
In my personal opinion, the least thing I want in a pirate game is restricting who can go where. Afterall, it's kinda contradictory. The game's main premise is that you're a pirate, and you are one of the few people of the "time period" that are free to venture where ever you choose too. I think it would be an overall disappointment to the sentimentality of the game if we put limits on the places a pirate may go. |

A level restriction on islands would make many go up and quit.
I know for a fact that I never, NEVER visited Padres Del Fuego until I was in my high level 20's. Why? Because the first thing I ever heard about it was how high level the opponents were and how frightening those Stumps in El Suderon were. And before you laugh, yes, I was scared of a stump. What they really need to implement is a tutorial in the game about the islands. Or perhaps a mini-cutscene. This cut-scene would display all the enemies that live on the island, and there level. It would also give a reasonable level to which you could venture into the island solo. For example, Port Royal would give you a small clip showing all of the stores and townspeople, along with some other background info on the island. Then it would show the enemies and there respective levels. A Sand Crab level one would flash across the screen, and then a Glaring Navy Cadet. Then, a level recommendation would flash on the screen in huge letters. For Port Royal, a Reccomendation: LEVEL 1 would be displayed. For a place like Fort Charles, it would display Reccomendation: LEVEL 8. You catching on? Most members aren't fully informed of the dangers. If something such as this would appear, it would warn them of the potential dangers, and hopefully caution them. If they don't pay attention, well, higher levels aren't liable. The more you know, the more you know. |

Its a good idea jack.. but i got an idea to replace the video. say when your getting your compass, tia dalma would also tell you about each of the islands.

That would work too.
What we really need is a tutorial that is actually somewhat descent, and that you cannot skip unless you have already made a pirate that has gone through the tutorial. We have too many players coming in that know how to do little more than a mistimed hack and slash. |

If you're a level 10, you shouldn't get upset that if in the future you can't visit an island with super high enemeis. Why go to an island if the first encounter with an enemy means instant death? Seriously? Why crew up? Why don't you level up like we had to when the game first opened? Just you and Mr. Level 2 Skeleton/Navy. Seriously, that was fun. Don't get ahead of yourself and try to fight level 50 enemies with your friends to level up faster. Enjoy being a low level while you still can. |

On the loading screen would be a great idea. I'd like a flash of pictures more though.

Or a warning bubble could pop up on the screen the first time you go to a new area. It could say something like "You may not be ready to enter this area. Only Pirates with Notoriety level 20 should attempt to take on enemies in this area. Be careful." or something along those lines. Don't restrict where they can go, just give them a warning bubble. Or perhaps a Pirates character could be in a cutscene the first time you enter an area. Perhaps Elizabeth Swann can warn you about Fort Charles, Jack Sparrow about Rumrunners, etc. After you view the cutscene, (which CAN be skipped, however, there's another thing incase people did skip it,) it'll open up your sea chest to a tab that looks sort of like this in layout: (question marks indicate areas you have not yet been to)
Area/Enemy Levels/Suggested Minimum Notoriety ??? ??? ??? Padres Del Fuego/8-34/20 ??? Port Royal/1-6/1 ??? Get the idea? The cutscene could be with the sliding pictures like Jack Shipsteel suggested, which might be better than the Pirates characters. |
