Well the dogging thing you are correct and wrong LoL... Sometimes it may seem as you dodged the ramming speed or shots however that it not whats appearing in your opponents screen. This could be due to lag or delays... So the other person did not miss, it's just probably showing it wrong on you monitor(not sure but this might have to do with your video or graphics card). This has not happened to me recently where lag has been low and it might also have to do with the other ships size because if other ship is big, there is a good chance of it getting yuo. This has happened a lot of times to me and it's really aggravating but in the end i'm victorious most of the time. It's not something you have to worry to much about because really if you have a great crew and have the skill, you will most likely be successful.
And every time you re-spawn, you have a shield where no damage is take lasting a couple minutes. Maybe you moved or something because that never happened to me.
