Such as the guild decides to make a user for everybody or a certain people (Such as GM's). These people are then given the password to get in, which means if somebody forgets something and somebody else remembers, that other person can log in and change it.
EXAMPLE

Guild: (Just making an example) Bob's guild..

Guild Masters: Bob, Joe, Frank, Eddie.

They create a guild account

Eddie writes plans for guild on thread:

Eddie: Today we will invade (Doesn't finish)

Bob sees and changes post to:

Today we will invade Port Royal!

Thats it I guess. If you still don't understand, I don't know how to make it more clear.

As I stated previously, our present software doesn't allow for such things. Though not a bad idea and could be used in certain situations. The creators of vB feels that no one should be able to edit other people's posts except for moderators. Trying to code around this would be a nightmare.
