Basic access ships *Merged*

I think that POTC should have at least one new ship that basic players like me can use, the only reason im bringing this up is because i cant use my warships anymore and the light sloop and galleon cant do much at all. Also i was thinking of making it able to capture crew members from flagships and getting money for them when you get to land. Feedback?

As an activist for basic member rights (privleges), 'tis important to take in consideration that when you raise the bar for basic, you increase it's value compared to unlimited. Giving more ship options to basics would be a good thing to add along with the SOTL though, so it could be possible. However if you're basic the entire time and haven't gone over level 14, I'd assume you wouldn't be a high enough level to sail warships anyways, but for basics who've already reached the point in which they can pilot those ships, I guess it's a possiblility.

Also, about your captive idea: imagine if you dropped them off at Kingshead.

BWAHAHA!!!

I e-mailed them a while ago... before I got Unlimited,... about giving access to at least a Light Frigate so that we could have all of the light class ships. They didn't really say much, other than saying "Thank you for your suggestion" and then probably deleting the e-mail before they could think about it. Good idea though.

Basic access has improved A TON since before. You weren't even able to play in full screen unless you paid. I was a basic member for the first year I played. (The first year it was out) and I felt the same way. I wanted more but didn't want to spend any money. As this game has to make money somehow they want you to have those feelings that want you to want that extra content. That way they will get money when you give in and pay them. Its usually been everytime there is something unlimited access only added there is something given to basic. It is always less though. Like weapons theres only about 10 different kind of crude weapons and theirs hundreads of unlimited access weapons. Really, just buy unlimited if you really want that content. Their not going to make this a free to play game so you either are happy with what you get or you pay.

Double edged sword.....they could provide access to more. However....from their point of view you might be less reluctant to join as a full member.

From our point of view we would enjoy more as a basic member....no doubt there. Would that prevent more people from joining? In my opinion....no. There are still so many things that you can't do as a basic member.

In conclusion, you can't expect them to give away the Caribbean.....but one extra ship might not hurt.

If they added multiple new ships for the paying members I could see them giving basic members the Light Frigate (Only).

I really don't find the need to get a light frigate. Its not much better from light sloop, and you could just get on some public War frigate ship and plunder at 10 times the speed...

I think full screen for basic was more then enough for basics not being able to use more ships

And light sloop owns a lot more in SvS then anything else.

I've been unlimited almost since i begun playing. But i think that if the basic access had more freedom to explore like an extra ship type, level 20 of 50, 15-20% on pearl quest, level 10 out of 30 on weapons...It wouldn't just be more fun for basics, but also encourage basics to pay because their interest for the game and for exploring it all the way will increase...not sure if i explained this right but in a few words, Decreasing Basic limitations, could encourage more players to become unlimited.

I did pay for access at one point of time, im lvl 40 now and i cant use any of my weapons or warships that i had, and if they do give the SOTL for unlimited access members then why not give a new ship for basic access? basic access members used to be able to use the triple barrel pistol, so its not that bad if they give a new ship for basic members, if they gave us the light frigate it would be a bit better for basic members but why not give a bigger choice?

They actually did add a ship for basic access players to buy. Before, basic members could only buy a Light Sloop. :P But I agree with what some people have said, I think the whole 'Light' ship class should be available to the basics.

IMO.....they offer plenty for basic. Some games are trial only....then you pay or don't play at all.

you have a point but if they open the content up then basics will have less reason to pay and no money comes in then NO GAME and if no game NO FUN!

I do think the Basic Access pirates should have a bit more, so I think having the light frigate would be okay. As other people have said, I think it would help encourage people to pay to get more.

That's the entire point of why they don't offer more for basic. They want you to want more....which leads to membership. Personally I don't think one more little ship would hurt......but apparently Disney has their reasons. At one time, basic was only full screen for a week. Then you had a shrunken down version surrounded by a frame with logos and advertisements. That in itself was a huge improvement for basic users.
