Suggestion for Adult Servers- LISTEN UP DISNEY GUYS!!! (lol)

I'm not sure how the rules work here, but on the TT forum, mods won't let you "name names". Since the forums are run by the same group, I would assume the rules are the same here. If that's not the case here, I say go for it. (could be considered flaming though) Hey Mods, is this allowed here? A "wanted poster" thread...heehee. You're correct - we don't allow "naming names" in a negative way either towards other players or guilds. If the person being named is not a member here, they have no way to defend themself and it's always possible that the guilty party is a child who was running amok on a parent's pirate.

A lot of players on TT keep their own personal list of people they won't play with, known griefers etc. I'm sure people on POTCO probably do the same thing.

Adults only is a GREAT idea. Not just for the chat, but, more importantly for the game.

I have had numerous experiences where I have been shanghied due to "children" who lock onto you at the dock and port to your ship and just start blasting away. Next thing, you're swimming and paying to repair your ship, when all you started out to do was sail to Kingshead!

I am new to my guild, but have been playing for awhile, I'm trying to establish myself as a working member. It's almost impossible to "get to know" anyone, with the severe restrictions that are imposed.

E.G. Chat msg: "I'll meet you at the dock" This will not transmit! Meet is not allowed. Implies personal/physical meeting.

Chat Msg: "I'll call you when I get to Outcast" Again not transmitted. Call is not allowed. Implies a personal relationship.

Like on eof the others said, They ask our age when joining up. Allow the adults to have thier own servers, with less restrictions... I'm not in favor of language that is not accpetable in 'polite' company, but a well deserved 'DAMN' shouldn't be banned or get someone a 3 day suspension.

Lucy is also my characters name, it got approved, but when my friends type Lucy in chat it gets arrr'd, my friends have to type LUCkY.

but yes, I too would prefer to play with adults, especially after the little boy that followed me around one night making kissy kissy text to me constantly.

I agree with Leon, you adults should have the privilege of your own servers. Maybe we could have a member's only server too... would that be a good idea?

The chat Gestapo has gone too far!!!!!

I just got notice of a 72 hour suspension. BECAUSE I gave out my IM name. This is the perfect arguement for an Adults only set of servers. I'm old enough to be the father of these young, probably underpaid, Moderators, yet they can boot me because I wanted to talk to some of my (ADULT) Guildmates .

They have built a game that encourages interaction, making friends and aquaintances, being a part of a group with common interests and goals, BUT they suspend your account for trying to continue that relationship outside of their boundaries.

I'm going to take this one step further.

Adult only servers: They ask our age on joining. They can verify age via the credit card that pays for the account. It should be a fairly simple action to provide these servers.

Paying account servers only. Allow the frist week newbies, those just trying the game, free access. They will be enticed to join by interacting with the paying players. BUT, after the first week, limit them to a group of non-paying servers. If those servers fill, then they will be forced to wait, or join.

This would give them 4 sets of servers.
One for free player adults. Probably only a small subset of players.
One set for paying adults. Surprise, there are more of us than you think!!!
One set for free playing minors. If they have to wait to log in, then they can hassle their parents into a subscription.
Last set for paying subscription minors. Probably the largest subset of players.

Allow first week new players to pick their server, within age limits.

I am a responsible adult. I should be aloowed to decide for myself who I trust and who I do not! I have made it through life, so far, by making my own friends and aquaintances, without someone else having to decide for me.

I'm also going to make one last statement: I know for a fact that a lot of adult players are leaving the game. The first guild I was in died. One of the reasons was the lack of things to do once a player 'Masters" out. The other reason was a series of suspenssions that were handed out due to 'personal info' being chatted about. Things like IM names, what state someone lived in, who they were personal friends with outside the game, etc.

Disney beware! You are upsetting the very people who are paying to keep this game alive! If you continue to alienate the adults, not only will they leave, they will take their children with them!

im adult into the game 2nd month making friends and wanting to interact beyond the carribean, and excellent point most of the paying parents are far more wrapped up into than kids they only get a few hours if homework is done at my house. My pirates are locked. whatever that feature is for cause it never asked for alternate user/pass??????? the verbage ban on adult players should have something they can do about unless it is deragotory or offensive to either party...ie whispers, etc.... some poor soul youngster talked to me and a friend randomly in public chat about his intimate relationship w/ grlfrnd. we tp'd and quick paranoid of the looselip ban

The only way they could work out if you were an adult is requesting your credit card details for verification, but then again kids could "loan" their parents cards :P

That would make sense, but wouldn't the parent be asking why you would need their credit card info? If a parent wouldn't ask for that they would need some help..
I think it would be better to both, kids and adults, for seperate servers. Since then it would give kids a little "added security" and adults more freedom. Although I could see a problem with younger family members. Unless adults could not go onto the kids servers and kids would need permission from the adult they wish to go to on adult servers.

1-800 number callem up tellem your age, last four degits of social to verify, credit card info, callem up and say I wish to sign up for adult server...so they have proof then again....that's really really really old school on my part..sorry best i could come up with.

when they emailed me that survey about the game and i got to the part of "what can we do to make the game better"....gee what do you suppose i suggested? ..lol. i had to rewrite it 3 times because my little rant kept going over their 1000 word limit....hahahaha!
