C. Seems reasonable.

The store clerk looks at you with an odd smirk on his face as he looks over your dingy clothes and the cuts all over your face. "I'm sorry chap, but seeing by the looks of your face, you must be one of those ruffians that like to get in to messes out there. A man like me giving a sword to somebody like you would only lead the good ole' Navy to come stomping on my doorstep, and that ain't happening!"
Having been denied your right to a new, shiny sword, what do you do? A. Tell him about how you were attacked by a group of rabid animals in the forest, and need the sword to get back to your home. "Your baby depends on it!" B. Demand the old man give you a good piece of weaponry! You have no right to be refused arms just because of how you look! C. Walk around the store and mess up a few things to kindly convince him to rethink his decision. |

I chose B! He has no right to do that!

Ahem, B. Of course, while doing a bit of....negotiations.

A is tempting (lying is always tempting, of course), but we'll go with B.

The old man is stunned as you begin to confront him so rashly, and in a terrorized state he passes out in your hands and folds peacefully on the floor, where he begins to doze off. Looks like you get your luck of the draw.
What item shall you take to use throughout your journey? A. A single-barrel pistol. It's not the best make, but it's better than the shabby one you have. B. A crudely cut iron sword. It was a good edge to it, just don't count on it to saw through bone. C. A handful of throwing knives. They're a little wobbly, but they can hit a target if you have good enough aim. |

C. Throwing knives can be used in both long range and close combat.

C. Might I explain how many times that has helped me out of tight situations?

You pick up the throwing knives, and as you step out of the store casually, Delmaria waits there, flipping a coin back and forth in his hand. YOu show him the knives, and he gives you a half sort-of smile. "They'll do, I suppose." he says. "Now, perhaps I'll let you in on a few things."
Delmaria goes on to explain his interest in a certain supply of Aztec gold in the possession of the British Navy, and that he would need your help in "investing" in the profits it brings. First, however, he's going to need a few maps to work off of. What do you do? A. Sneak behind a Navy soldier and take the maps supplied to him in his sack. Like they'll notice! B. Break in to the cartographer's shop and steal a map of all the nearby British camps. C. See if you can buy a few of the maps somewhere on the black market... for a good price, eh? |

The map you manage to successfully smuggle out of the cartographer's shop indicates that the largest placement of Navy pirates are held up in the Thieve's Den, a small cave inside the depths of Tortuga, which is the most probable place where the treasure is being held up.
How do you plan to get there? A. Cut through the swamps - it may be murky, but surely you can make your way through it quickly with a little elbow grease. B. Make your way through the dense jungle. There may not be much space to work with, but it's better than not getting anywhere at all. C. Head through the paths in the Tortugan Graveyard. There are a few skeletons and Navy guards lurking around, but you can outsmart them in no time! |
