OK... I have another way to deal with the stoweaways for the time being, until the fix is implemented:
If you see someone board your ship, tell the person that they can automatically join the nearest crew by pressing Shift+F2. *Poof* they go away!  It's worked a couple times now and it is too funny to see them actually do it. Loot Hard!
