I don't believe that the value of plunder increases with the value/size of your ship. The amount of plunder that can be carried however is increased which would usually generally result in a higher payout (when comparing full loads). It comes down to what ships your plundering in the long run. In my experiences, the higher value plunders are usually obtained from taking higher level enemy ships, and flag ships usually are more rewarding as well.

I tend to go after higher level ships. But I can only carry 2 more cargo then I could before. Could be that also.

The second time always charges me again. If it were 0 I wouldn't mind.

The cutlass thing straightend itself out after I logged out and back in again.
