thanks for the hint on the quests for gold. i made a new pirate and have been able to advance much farther in the game. of course i don't have much gold, i've just been plundering ships. i also got the doll and it works great. my new pirate is sarah stormwalker.

Plundering ships and digging up treasures on the islands is the only way I'm earning gold at the moment.

I have had none of the issues associated with getting tasks from townspeople by digging treasure. I dig up every chest of gold I run across and I run across them four or five times in a row. LOL
