For me its 100% luck, lol. One time I kept clicking "check" when it said i had a royal flush. I guess thats a good hand and I didnt even know it. LOL I like how it tells you what you have so you can try to make an eductaed guess on if its good or not. I managed to pass the quest for Sword and Gun and they both made me play for 400 win on Black jack and Poker. Im still not sure how I did that.

Part of the fun is trying to bluff the other players into thinking you have a great hand so they drop out - doesen't work with the NPC players  So you loose out on that aspect unless you get a private game with lots of PCs.

Well, we're all noobs whenever we start something - its not like we're born playing poker
Guildmates or friends and I will double cheat at the tables - let each other know our hands to we can try to beat the table. Works more often than not but the pot is usually not very big - you have to try to keep the NPC players in the game. Its more effort than going out and plundering
