Under account options in the game, when you first log in, check you account preferences, set it at unlimited true friends, open chat. It will say "create account" under your log in area which will bring you to "enter your beta key" page. Click the "exit" button at the top right which will bring you to another screen. Click the "log in" button and enter your login info. There you enter your username under account management and click on "edit" . you can see your chat preferences.

Sorry I am being dense... when I first log in where? to POTCO on that little screen ?? on the Beta Site???? on the choose a pirate screen???
Believe me when I tell you I have looked all over for a place to change my account options and when I try to edit chatpreferences it sends me to the DXD page which does not allow one to choose OPEN chat.
I had the ability to OPEN chat and lost it with one of the updates and so far have not gotten any response from my inquiries to the Disneybots.
Anyone know a telephone number one can call? I am tempted to try my TT #.

Don't worry, it took me along time to figure this out and i still get lost trying to find it. Start with the first login page and click the button "create account" right under where you login. follow my previous instructions after that. good luck

I just tried to go thru the steps as you outlined them and I wasn't able to find anything when I first log in called "account preferences". I did open the beta page and log in then chose "edit". I was shown I have Unlimited DXD friends. It then said to change my preferences to go to the DXD site. The option is there that says "Open Chat" but there is no way to check a box to enable it, it has three options below it and where it says, "Enable chat with any Disney Member", check that and it says, "This feature is coming soon".

MissMarple, I wonder if the reason we can't use this feature is because we tested DXD for TT and our preferences have been saved, set, or whatever.

For those of you that are sure you have open chat, are you TT testers? If you are, did you test DXD when it went to test a couple of months ago?

Eureka I finally found it !!!! After you log in on the Beta Site go to MEMBER/GUEST SERVICES at the bottom of the page Stella Ruby. There is an option to then manage your account and the chat options are in there with the requisite warning about Open Chat.
For those of you that might have young'uns playing there is an option to create a sub-account that asks for DOB for which I am sure you can use to set up a separate login and different chat options.

So the sequence is:
Go to Beta Home Page https://apps.pirates.go.com/pirates/member/index
Click ACCOUNT at top of page
Enter your password (account name should be there)

At the BOTTOM of the page click on Member Guest Services
This brings you to a choice of manage your account ...this is what you want to do..... or Create a sub account
Then choose your chat options.

Good info MissMarple. My Chat Options are set to Open Chat. I guess this was the problem why persons seeing the garble garble garble.

Thanks Stella for explanation of DXD. I am a TT tester as well. Didn't get to test DXD on TT test either, as I said before, it is only for US residents.
