Trouble on Vista

So I know lots of people are having trouble with crashes out on the oceans while using Vista. I've tried to update my graphic/video card, driver, and whatever. However, I still can't seem to get it to work. I'm using the ATI Mobility Radeon 2400 HD on my XPS One. I know that that card is not one Pirates supposedly supports, according to their workaround ideas in "Known Issues." I'm basically stuck so if anyone could help me out here it would be greatly appreciated. I'm semi-knowledgeable when it comes to computers - I can try to read "it," find "it," and do "it." Thanks.

Most ATI card users (as I own a ATI 2600 HD) need the following to get pirates to work...

1) Go to Start | Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer.
2) Navigate to C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\PiratesOnline.
3) Double click on game_options.txt.
4) Make sure "state" has "working" on the line directly below it. If you see "attempted_working" change it to "working."
5) Under "api", please change the text from "default" to "pandadx9".

(Note here: some Vista user have better sucess with "pandadx10" - you may need to try both

6) Save the file then launch the game.

If you don't have this file on your computer, you will need to create one in the PiratesOnline directory.
1) Go to Start | Run.
2) Type "Notepad" in the Open input box then click OK.
3) Add the following text precisely as you see it below:
state
working
api
pandadx9 (once again, you may need pandadx10)
4) Click File | Save As
5) Name the file "game_options.txt"
6) Save the file to C:Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\PiratesOnline then launch the game.

Hey, thanks for that Max! Under the game options, it was "working" and I changed the api to pandadx10 and it's working properly again! The game is on its highest resolution, character detail, and terrain detail, with all the other options under "Graphics" set to their lowest. So the game looks good - not as good as it could - and I can sail again without crashing. Thanks again!
