Super Flaming Skull

I have a dud staff though, the flames when i use flaming skull sometimes at outcast or tormenta seem to surround my pirate, and get bigger everytime i use it until there is a giant skull on my screen I did try this out with my friend, but for some reason she said there was no flames visible on my staff when i could clearly see them, but i could see hers but only when i watched her do the glitch. So as for running around with a flaming skull i don't think people see it?
