The trick to weapons is not to put a lot of points on low or weak skills so those attacks can get the most REP from an enemy NPC....

For example, you would put 1 point on Hack, Sweep, Brawl and Taunt for the Cutlass and use those attacks so it would take longer to kill the NPC - giving you full 100 REP when the enemy dies...
