There is a "club" of pirates that do exactly that. Get into a guild,, behave nicely, sort of edge their way into becoming an officer, and then delete or destry the guild.
Actually I think there have been several groups of them playing at this over the months, among other things they do to cause trouble with other players. Also Some guilds will promote a new member to officer rank based only on their notoriety level making them instant officers. This can be part of the problem with guilding a player without first spending some time getting to know them. This leaves the guild wide open to being victimized by these sort of griefers. Another type are those who will join your guild and then attempt to recruit your members into another guild. I've seen this one a few times, and I've booted new members out of my guilds for trying this. What they don't realize is that loyal members usually let the GM or other officers know whats going on right away.

For me, I can't see how anyone can find joy in just ruining the game for others by deleting countless guilds (I assume that an officer has the power to do that?
For the most part they aren't really involved in the game, their sole purpose is to cause trouble with other players and guilds. Thats why they are known as griefers. Some very immature players out there fancy their guild as some sort of street gang and behave in the game much like a street gang. The problem was much worse a few months ago. I think Disney cleaned house on a bunch of them recently.

I get approached from time to time by people asking about my guilds. Often they are players who for one reason or another are unhappy with their current guild or they are advanced players with baby pirates looking for a home for their baby pirates. Most of them I'm not worried about. Its the ones who come up to you asking you to guild them or even begging without even asking any questions about your guild that you should worry about. Think about that, they don't know you or anything about you or your guild but they want to join If they are a new player looking for a guild for all they know they could be asking to join a guild full of eight year olds. Sorta like the people who hit you with friend invites without first having the courtesy to speak to you. They haven't spent any time talking to you getting to know you and you know nothing about them. In the game that is sort of like giving a complete stranger the keys to your house and your car. I don't friend anyone in the game or guild anyone without first spending some time getting to know them. If they are polite and behave decently toward other players I have no problem with friending them. If they are looking for a guild I'll ask them what type of guild they are looking for, And spend some time getting to know them before guilding them.

I agree with this, too many troublemakers out there.
But arent people who believe the lies of troublemakers just as guilty?(the friendship part/drama in guilds) im not referring to the people who delete guilds.

Thanks for the heads up Bart. I had no idea that this type of behavior was going on. Guess I was just lucky enough to be lost in my own little world of tight-knit friends on the game. But, being that we are starting to expand our small guild, find this information very useful. I too get random friend requests every time I play. I give them the benefit of the doubt and keep them for a bit, if they dont talk or respond if I talk to them, i delete them a.s.a.p. I'll have to be a little more cautious with that now too i guess. I also had a brief encounter with a griefer. I had just logged on, and went to Abbassa Tortuga to see what was happening. Not even 30 seconds after getting to the beach, I get a whisper saying "I want you to know I just reported you." I tried to rationalize it by thinkining that maybe he just clicked on the wrong person to whisper to, but it woul have been the same menu to report someone too. Just shows you how random these guys are. I found him, whispered to him and asked him if he had gotten the right guy, and the coward took off lol. Happy pirating!
