I can't give you a time frame but I have it straight from the Pirates Support phone line that yes indeed updates are in the works. They won't of course say for when, nor how big, but I can tell you this and hope it helps.

I was more of a pixie less of a pirate up until about two weeks ago. The Hollow was sitting on a mere couple of months with only a single minor change. Then they got in one 16 hour update a slew of all new content some of which totally changed parts of the Hollow. We're talking new meadows, new games, new shops and collections, the whole nine.

Translating the time frame of how long it's been since a pirates update, the need for new content, the detail put into graphics, (which is no where near as good on the Hollow so that takes less time there.) and a few other factors, I'd say that what I was told about Hollow updates should apply here as well. When I asked just before their update why it was taking so long I was basically told the bigger the update the longer it takes.

Now I don't know pirates yet half as well as I know the Hollow's inner workings. But I do get good business. Good business sense would be to do an equally massive update (if not bigger) on the older game whose membership costs more as you did on the younger game whose membership costs less.

All this adds up in my opinion to D keeping all new updates for pirates very hush hush till the absolute last minute. Having never been on it I don't know if everything new hits Test first, but if it doesn't all go there first you can bet the new updates won't. I know you long term pirates are sick and tired of hearing this, but hold on, it is coming.

Hawke,

I'll still be here, and hopeful. And I do hope you're right. But, it's been the practice of the Pirates developers to plug and push new developments weeks before they're out. So, if a massive update was in the works - they would be very chatty about it.

Many believe that the focus has been on the huge release of POTCO UK and the possibility of attracting a large European audience to it that has them focused elsewhere.

The upside is, that if that's true, then the elements they use in the UK version will make their way over here.

Eliza, POTCO UK won't have any different elements than our POTCO. In fact, it's exactly the same. Our POTCO site and the POTCO UK site each lead to the same game servers.

There won't be anything different for them. Once the POTCO UK site allows people to join POTCO then when they log on they'll be going exactly where we go when we log on. So once the UK site(launcher?) is up then we could be playing with UK people and not even know it.

It's just like toontown and toontown UK. Same game servers, different sites.

UK vs US

Hokay... so all the images and video they've been showing is just old stuff or stuff no one will see - just like before?

What?? "Once the POTCO UK site allows people to join POTCO then when they log on they'll be going exactly where we go when we log on. So once the UK site(launcher?) is up then we could be playing with UK people and not even know it."

Im From UK and being playing for more than a year now, im an unlimited member. I get on POTCO no problem, bit confused by this statement. If you look at the UK site, screenshots are totally different to what we are used to just now.
Also the other interesting thing to note, is the grape shot, which states for effective against sea monsters and PVP, has anyone fought any sea monsters as of late?

You sure about that because unlike toontown the bad guys in pirates are mostly UK, the EITC and Navy, so I would imagine they would have a slightly different look for the UK version or is D's plan to have UK players fighting against British oppression. The trailer on the UK site has player ships, white sails, shooting at ships with spanish sails maybe just a slight difference but would require different servers.

I heard the updates were due to arrive on Mothers day.... the mothers day that pased a few months ago. LOL People seem to make up rummors all the time. (remember the childhood game, telephone?) Some where along the way it gets jumbled up.
Ive also thought about breaking down and going back to basic. ive been playing since Feb of 08. Ive had many mastered pirates and deleted them to start new ones. I try to change things up but over all the game is getting repetative and boring. However as Mlattro said the day I go back to besic is the day that POTCO will add the new content.

Big John,

No sea monsters, mate. It was their way of hinting that the Kraken would be coming. And possibly it will be something that will coming handy against the beastie...

I wonder what those "BIG UPDATES" will be. I hope ( wish ) one of them would be releasing the Navy Goliath into Uncharted Waters and would appear whenever a Juggernaut is nearby. Or at least making it a tad bit harder.

Listen, there won't be any versions. Since you're in UK, you don't have to actually have a UK account. Do you get the POTCO mail, though? If you don't then a UK account would probably be better for you.

No, there won't be anything different. Also, if you've been on the Uk toontown site then you know one of the toontown trailers is a waste of time. It may look different, because it is, but it's not really in-game footage.

P.S. The skeletons on POTCO UK are in the pre-development stage. The Spanish flags too. Everything on the UK site is old.
You don't have to believe me but I'm sticking to , different sites, same game servers.

Well the time frame complieing with TT pixie and all disney games is also what i beleive but them not telling us till "the last minute" is VERY not like disney... a extremly huge update on toontown last year everybody knew about and they even had a story line going for it 7 or 8 months before it even came out.. Sure when it came out everybody went to it then about and hour later the servers crashed and the game was down for 3 days

Disney is slow about releases... but to put that Pixies update into comparison for the OP.

POTCO, has been online about a year longer than Pixie Hollow, and Pixies already got a major update. TT got a decent update lately... why havent the pirates gotten theirs? I guess we have, the problem is, its been nothing the community has been asking for, and has been told to look out for. Oh well. Still waiting patiently.

Add: They actually have put one big pirate update (added SvS), but I guess I just cancel out the SvS since its of no interest to me.

Big update?

I'm from the UK and have played since the very first days of beta (was fortunate enough to sign up at the right time from toontown and recieved my beta key ) I've often checked out Piratesuk site and theres nothing on there thats new. I don't think I will change to the UK site even after they launch it, unless Disney makes it so.
The game itself has chenged soooo much since the early days (when you could sail into the bay of tortuga and jump from your ship to a dingy before getting onto the pier!) and I'm sure very soon we will get a major update. The developers diary told of new things to come STARTING IN JULY. That tells me theyre imminant, like now!
Personally I love the GM hosted events. Saving Captain Walter from the gallows in the fort on Port Royal was so much fun! And they have promised more. wOOt! Bring it on.............. and soon
