How Did You Name Your Pirate?

[Destiny]

Destiny started out because that is my favorite girl name, it then went to when I saw DMC and I loved the way Tia Dalma would say destiny lol. I then thought since "destiny" seems to be a dominant theme in the movies it would work well in Pirates so..tada!

Also I think it must be funny to see "Destiny has come online" and "Destiny is coming to visit you" lol.

I picked my 1st name because of Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, call me obsessed lol I already know! And my last name since it sounds irish and thats what I am.

When I was first creating my pirate, I wanted something nautical that invoked the image of a drunken, crusty, filthy, unshaven, crude, rude, perverted, and disgusting pirate, like I am in real life.

The name "Bilgepump McGee" popped into my head, so that's what I typed in.

It got rejected.

So I figured that this being Disney, they probably wanted something bland and innocuous like "Tim Westwind", and typed that in.

That got approved. No big surprise.

But I screwed up Tim's skill points, which I realized after upgrading my account.

So I created a new pirate, and re-used the "Bilgepump McGee" name.

This time it was accepted.

And here I am.

How long does it take to get your name approved and how do they notify you? My first pirate I just picked a combo i thought was fun and now I am trying to do a second basec off the Roman Gods of the sea and moon that sailors would pray to in hopes of not sinking.

Well, La Puette (or de la Puette) was the name of my family around the 1700's. These were french who eventually found their way to the Americas, and among the folks that fought in the american revolutionary war at the last half of the century. Eventually, it changed to Puette, and many other variants. Of course, through marriages, etc, you've got to dig back to the civil war era to find anyone in my family with the name of "Pitts" (that it eventually evolved into).

Dann-Jacques is a variant of my name.

SO, hence "Dann-Jacques La Puette"

I got my name from:

1. Black Beard
2. Albus Dumbledore's long silver beard from Harry Potter.
3. Because I added them together.

I tried to use "Edward Teach"

But I guess they didnt like anyone useing Black Beards real name, and it didnt get approved.

My pirate name is now based on my online gaming nickname of 16+ years.

Online gaming name: Ledzeplin
Pirate name: Zeppers (they would never approve led zeppelin) hehe

You have a spike!?! I'm soo jealous! I made a William the bloody because they wouldn't let me pick spike! lol and I tried making an Angel but got DENIED. I'm serious I think Disney is just after me personally, there is nothing wrong with a guy named Angel!!

my main pirate's name is Matilda Rose. i picked it just because it seemed to fit the time frame of POTC and i thought it sounded nice... then about a month later Heath Ledger died and another player in POTC told me that was his daughter's name, so people think i named my pirate after her... it's kind of weird

Mine came from my nom de plume on fanfiction.net. Since I've written POTC fanfiction, it seemed appropriate.

On another naming note, no matter your reasoning for picking the name you do:

For the love of all things scurvy, please, please, please stop naming pirates "Jack". We had 4 at one point in a guild of 21. So I try to imagine a guild of 210 might have 40 Jacks. Ugh! Please make it Jak or Jac or Jaq or Jax, whatever variation you choose, but no more Jacks.

i raise dogs, and as well have a dog named dagger whos my snuggle partner, secret keeper and diet advisor (he eats half of my food therby helping me lose weight)
