Therefore I have no basis to argue otherwise but I can say it obviously appears much easier to me to get them out of the way early if for no other reason than to enjoy the passive skills they offer.

Btw, it is still best imo to just get the rep @ either KH or Pads beach and then hit Darkheart or crew up and bring ur pocket pirate/healer to tormenta to level, earn crew points and tp back and forth for ammo runs (a cinch with ur trusty pocket pirate - not back pocket though. I killed two good pirates that way when I sat down)
