Can Not Connect
Ok so it happened again. The game would not let me log on. Showed error message. So I had to remove and re-install graphics folder again. ATI 1550 series. It works again. Seems as if something "trips" the graphics at either log in or sign off that will not allow game to run. Well either way it is up and running hope this helps someone.

In the interest of keeping up to date, I refreshed windows update and checked for new ATI drivers, tonight. The "Catalyst 9.1" thing for my ATI caused considerable setbacks. Pirates would not run until I uninstalled Catalyst (which is just fluff anyhow; it is a tool to adjust video driver parameters and check for updates.) Once it was uninstalled from "Add/Remove Programs," I was able to run pirates again. Furthermore, once the 8.12 series of software drivers was active, I was able to adjust many parameters for best performance (weakest graphics rendering) for slightly better performance using OpenGL. (Ironically, last year, switching to DirectX9 showed a benefit; now OpenGL seems much faster.)
So, it was either very lucky, or very very smart, that you reloaded the original ATI drivers, instead of the "most" up-to-date. :-) |

Thanks for the boost of confidence Edward. I will go with very lucky, no actually dumb luck that reloading the drivers worked. Either way I don't care, I am greatful because now potc is now up and running once again.
