Disney Fix for API issues

I was recently experiencing some disconnects, but finaly Big D responded kindly to my reports and ofcourse fixed the problem. Here is what they sent me and I am sharing it for those who are experiencing the same issue.


Enabling Pirates Online to use DX8, or DX9 from Open GL may resolve the problem.

To specify Pirates Online to use another API, you will need to change the Graphic Options from the Launcher window.

Bring up the Launcher Window:
1) Go to Start | Programs | Disney Pirates of the Caribbean Online | Pirates of the Caribbean Online.
2) In the Launcher Window, select the Graphic Options button.
3) Select DX9 and press Continue.
4) Sign in and press Play.

This change in settings will instruct Pirates Online to use the selected graphics API (this is your computer’s graphics library).

If you still have issues playing the game, please try using DX8.

This has been on the boards for a few weeks. In other words go to shortcut of pirates online and hit graphic options. The problem with this from the moment it appeared on test, is some of us don't get the continue button on this option panel. So anything chosen in this window can not be saved.

Thus, this leading to some of the multiple posts here, of how to change the api with a write in in the game-api file. From pandagl to pandadx9, or pandadx8.

And it gives a solution to the problem described by Poison Elf as well.
