Against all odds - A trial of man's desire to live

Part One - Reckoning

The spectral cannonballs cast a grim flash of light as the hurtled toward the Sloop of War. At the helm was a salty dog, a pirate no less, named Zeke. He screamed for the men to take cover, as he desperately tried to spin the ship to avoid the cannons. It was a futile effort, as the screaming heads of death ripped into the ship, gutting it. Zeke's last image was of a ghastly beast walking towards him. Jolly Roger, he said as he blacked out.

"Wake up pirate!!!" Zeke's eyes shot open, recognizing the voice. "Jolly Roger, we meet again," Zeke said. The undead pirate looked at him, trying to decide what rank of the undead this incredible person would become. "Ye shall become one of my raiders, to serve me for all time." Zeke shook his head, as he watched his men being transformed into the ghastly abominations that he killed daily to survive. "I will never submit to yer rule, you monstrosity." The Roger looked at him. "So be it... Drop him in the water." A swarm of creatures lifted him up and tossed him into the sea, miles from any known island. "When the sea becomes to hard for ye to swim, I will be waiting Leyland. You will join my crew..." A harsh laugh and a flash of the lightning, and the War Frigate known only as The Harbinger of Death sailed away. Zeke Leyland began swimming, using the stars. "If I can get to padres, I can get a ship and make it back to Tortuga." Unbeknown to him though, the trials he would endure were only just beginning.

Well, that's most of part one. I'll add more later.

Post yer comments if ye desire.

Seems to me like threads don't go that far here in this section anymore. Anywhoo, your Zeke is fine I suppose, as he is your character, but I gotta say I like my Jolly Roger.

Aye, Jolly Roger is an awesome character. i'm gonna write some dystopian fiction later in this, as i expand, but i've been thinking on this story.

Part I cont'd

Zeke swam and swam, the towering volcano of padres getting closer and closer with each stroke, until he collapsed on the shores of the main town. A passerby stopped to lift him up. "You ok stranger?" Zeke nodded. "Jolly Roger... Took my crew... Barely escaped with me... life." Each word became a struggle, as he was breathless.
The man looked at him. "Names William, William Artemis Treasurevane, but everyone calls me Will. I was just heading out to fish, you bound for anywhere?" Zeke smiled. "Tortuga, to raise some help. Jolly Roger has crossed we pirates for the last time. His day of reckoning shall come." With that, the men set off for Tortuga.
