Staff quest not working - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

I've only been on test since the open invite, and then took 3 months off from the game.

I started playing POTCO again about 2 weeks ago, and since the update I've been on test exclusively.

For the past 3 days I've been grinding like a mad woman trying to hit level 30 to get my staff and possibly be able to take on some of these stronger enemies.

Sometime during a playing marathon that lasted until 4:30 this morning I finally hit level 30.

Got through 64% of the staff quest, defeating Raiders, Dragoons, Assassins, etc. and visiting jail more than I have since I started the game.

Only to get the portion of the quest that calls for Flotsams, Spineskulls and Dregs. I had been playing with a pirate last night who said he was getting no credit for part of the quest. He did the Dregs first and got credit for them.

I decided to save the Dregs for last and went for Flotsam. Took my first one out. No joy, no credit toward quest. Tried a Spineskull...same story.

I can't even begin to tell you how frustrated I am.

Yes, I sent in a report, but I've got to say, I'm very discouraged that one of the 5 Casa Muertos quests, and now the staff quest, are not working.

I love the new caves, but this staff problem is a really tough pill for me to swallow.

While working on the grenades and a few other quests this weekend, I found that I HAD TO defeat the enemies IN ORDER!! I had one that listed Grunts and Marines. If I killed a Marine, it didn't count. If I beat a Grunt, it worked. After getting all the Grunts, then the Marines started to count.

I would recommend that you try beating the enemies in the order that they show up in your list.

Not good news for this pirate who just got through the raider, executioner, gypsie part of the staff quest...

Basil - yours was a valid theory and I worked on it earlier today, defeating first the Dregs, then moving to the Flotsam, in the order the quest was presented, but the Flotsam weren't counting towards the quests.

Logged out around 3:30 central time. Logged back in at approximately 9:40 central time and had a short test update.

I'm happy to report that the staff quest is now working again.

Woo-hoo!

ETA: I have not checked yet to see if the Murky Hollow dig spots are now functioning. Will leave that to someone else as I have major staff envy and want that sucker in the worst way.

Trick is - they took the quest away so even if they were working we couldn't test then hehe

(Can't remember if another quest takes you there without looking at the wiki...)

Happy to hear the staff quest is fixed...am about 46 per cent on it...but got killed by 2 assassins...was wondering if I should continue..Thank You Ukebec for posting this and BTW...welcome back!!

Just wanted to post about staff quest...YIKES!!! Disney has made the quest very difficult IMHO. Lots of Raiders, Assassins, Dragoons, Corrupt stumps, executioners, & now I have reached Menta...Dregs, Spinskulls, & Floatsams...many of each. Quite a challenge...for a level 30. I don't believe you can do alot of this quest without a healer. At least I can't. I'm not the strongest pirate on POTCO, but I think this quest is going to be difficult for many pirates. Yes, it's supposed to be, I know. But just wanted to say it is more difficult than it was before. So if you haven't got your staff yet...Ummmmm...take a friend along...lol

Believe it or not lizzy, I did manage it without a healer. Not to say I didn't visit jail a few times, but it is doable.

Having said that, though, I'd be happy to act as a healer for you.

Me hat goes off to ya, Ukebec....You be a strong pirate. I went to jail once when 2 assassins killed me & wouldn't go back without a friend...lol Now, Menta? If ya be on when me pirate is, I would be welcoming a healer...
