Sorry I thiink I may have worded that wrong. First let me say I aprecaite all of the posts that you guys make. It seems like I get more info about the game I love from here. Your post keep my eyes focused on the horizon and fo that I thank you. What I was going for is that if a GM is going to tell us that new weapons are coming or even a refrence to that or any update they should announce where the GM is going to say that on the site or the launcher news feed so we can all hear it in game. I just seems like it would be more fun for everyone. Again I love what all of ou here do. I just think it is bad form on Disneys end to not let everyone know something like that. They have not even put it on ther site yet. It just seems shady to me. But then I wear tin foil hats.

I think its crowded enough when GMs do show that I'm glad it's not announced. Imagine if Mickey Mouse wore a GPS locator at the park so everyone knew exactly where to find him! There would be such a constant throng of people around him that nobody would ever get a good picture with him. I think we should look at GM events as icing on the cake (a delicious, piratey rum-cake), and not as something that D owes us.

I totally agree. We are lucky to have an interaction with those that develop the game. Why some people go out of their way to spoil it for others I dont know. If you 'get into character' at these role-playing events, information is always forthcoming. Shouting at the top of your voice 'WHEN IS THE KRAKEN COMING, YOU PROMISED IT US THIS YEAR' does not.

I appreciate those that take & have the time to post about these events. The chat logs that are posted must take an enormous amount of time to put together. Time which alot of us don't have to do these things. Today's event took place on every server if I am correct. These people took time out, many from their holiday, to enact these. And for that this pirate is grateful. The Host GM events would be so much more betters if ppl would listen & ask pertinent questions. Having to tell ppl to "Stow your Weapons" or "Show respect" gets tiresome. I have left events because of disruptive actions. And as far as the story or the next chapter...I always liked suspense novels...never exactly certain what is to come next although you know there is something additional to come. I believe wholeheartedly that all that has happened is leading Pirates into the next chapter. And this pirate is excited about what is to come!

GMs are NOT necessary.
That said - I AM HAPPY THEY ARE OUT THERE! You can follow the scripted quests, level your weapons and endlessly repel invasions... but then what? Do you feel that involved, that entertained? I used to be one of those who was discouraged by the lack of new material during the long dry spell last year. And often we vented that the GM events were to cover up that fact. So, NOW that there is a wealth of new material coming out on a regular basis... the GM events are a bonus. They had to the reality and give the AVERAGE player a chance to interact with the story line. As GM of ETC - it is our policy to behave at these events, to the extent that a member was nearly removed for their attitude at such an event. This is a game, but there are those who want to enjoy it and the RP events is part of that. If someone doesn't care for them - DON'T ATTEND. It will cut down on the lag. EC |

I for one work for during the week. I can't be on on the time. A few hours a night during the week when I can and then I get to play some on the weekends.
The good pirates who post information and chat logs are the only way I get to know about alot of this stuff. I am sure I am not alone here. These pirates are obliviously networked together through thier guilds and friends. When one finds a GM they all do. They have earned the GMs respect through repeated role-play and are treated as such. I don't see many other pirates posting much here so I for one glad to see it and hope they continue for all of us that can't make or find these events. I post when I see something but never think to take screenshots when I do so it' s just verbal. I will work on that. Mates if you want to see the GMs get your guild involved in looking for them. Make sure your mates understand to show respect and to role-play with them. They are usually on the lower A servers so have your members walk through Port Royal every so often and look. My guild has been doing this for the last month or so and its making a difference. We are catching more GM events and since we are respectful we are getting some notice. You need to go out and earn it mates. Good hunting to you! Captain Whale |

Quite the long posts, everybody. I pretty much agree with most of the people up there ( Zeppers, Jeanne, etc. ). The GM events are neccesary, because usually, there are hints as to upcoming events and updates ( excluding the supposed Kraken and new story quests ). If you don't wish to participate in these events, that's fine, you won't get banned for not going lol.
I usually try to go to all the GM events possible, but I usually don't make it. But that's fine. The EITC GM events were good, and useful about learning the upcoming events. Same as the ghost GMs. |

Agreed. I have to admit, I'm addicted to pirates online and play long hours, then eventually I have to get off before an invasion. But yeah this is unfair. It seems like classified information only some players hear. This is what TEST servers are for. I really want to be on a test server. Actually my mom said that I am someone who should be on one lol. Ok Im off subject. Maybe the GM's shouldn't be an actual person, just like a robot like on club penguin, how rockhopper was just a animation programmed what to say and where to click. They should put pirates who work long and hard on test servers because you know they would be reliable.

Well, having an automated GM really defeats the purpose. The GM's purpose isn't just to give little hints here and there on what is to come, but also to give pirates the feeling that they are getting involved with the game. Knowing that theres an actual person on the other end really takes the whole interactive role-playing aspect of the game to a new level. Besides, with a GM that wouldn't react to what you would say (it being a computer) it would just be dry and boring.
Also, if the GM's showed up on the Test servers only, that REALLY defeats the purpose. Thats just giving those with special privileges, even MORE special privileges. Besides, the larger portion of the POTCO population ISN'T on Test. Open is the actual game, where players get to experience the game and its content. Test is just there to TEST the content first. And another thing. The GM's ARE NOT showing favoritism towards other pirates. Thats the very reason WHY they show up on the more populated servers. They are trying to get more people to see and hear the information first hand! Its not like the GM's show up on a quiet server where only a select few of pirates are. They go to the places with the largest variety of pirates, so that way the information has a more likely chance to trickle down. Its not Disney's fault some people always find the GMs, and that some people never find them at all. They are trying their best to give players as much information as possible, while not having to post it on their site. If Disney posted what the GM's say on the offical POTCO site, it defeats the purpose of the events. However, while I say this, I GREATLY appreciate the pirates who post what the GM's say on the forums. They help me learn things I probably wouldn't have known. So, in general, if Disney posts the hints/information that the GM's say directly on their own site, it defeats the purpose. But if the PIRATES, who heard what the GM's say, post it somewhere, like the forums, then its bringing MORE to the purpose. |

Bingo! Well put Captain Del.
When ever I am lucky enough to find a GM there are so many pirates there that it gets laggy. lol. So why are all those pirates not posting what they see and hear? Believe me they are there. Again thanks to those who do post the info for the rest of us. I too will post what I find out as well. It's one way I can give back to the community that is keeping me informed. Captain Whale |

I agree with a lot of the posts here, and I too appreciate the fact some people actually take time out to post the information they find.
As the others have said, if you just spend the time looking for these events, then you will eventually come across them. Searching servers, asking friends, or asking a guild, sooner or later someone will come across an event. As some others have mentioned, those that are posting the information are taking the time to do what I mentioned above, search for the events. Sure, knowing where and when the event will take place is nice... but how many times has a GM released the location, only for it to be crowded with A LOT of players? I would rather spend a few minutes asking around, than head to one specific location knowing that it will be like a mini-Abassa. Last edited by Jack I; 11-28-2009 at 02:00 AM.. Dear Moro1212,
Here you dont have to read the posts and threads, but if you want to know the gossip before most pirates do read it! The reason whhy and how i say that is because the POTCO official website is slower then this by about 2.12 seconds. The only reason why that is, because the site is ran by Disney. In Disney.com, there are games, downloads, videos and much other stuff, so thats why its slower.Therefor you would like to hear the news before the people outside of POF, read this site.Anyways were all hoping for a new story chapter, it may happen HOPES UP! Play POTCO until the POF team get the news.( Not saying im on the team i think its just the mods, founders,ECT.not Pirates.) How you know they have the news? You can know they have the news? 1. By opening up the POTCO window to log in. 2. Look on the left side on the log in window. 3.There it will show the new news. 4. Open up an search engine. 5. Go on http://piratesonlineforums.com. Then you are good to go, all the news will be there! Uh.... Yes the GMs are nessisary. They are the ones that planned them, so why dont they get a turn?Plus its fun with them around, unless there is one that goes like on your events "Uh..... oh.... yes im supposed to start the party..... uhh..... yes thats it..... everyone that has a - anything(as in bomb) -. sorround - anything(as in the giant bon-fire pit) - and - anything(as in light up the fire) -."(i had a GM like that to start the feast, he was BORING! In the next story chapter yes it will be about the kraken, jolly roger ghosts, lightning and new fog system, more of a spooky type story chapter( this should of been in the first paragraph sorry) ~i rock (swashbuckler)

However, there's no evidence to support that the second story quest will be about the Kraken, Jolly Roger, ghosts, or anything else. Until it comes out, all we can do is guess. For all we know they want to go with the movies and we'll have to kill the Kraken this story quest, and the next story quest will involve getting rid of Davy Jones. All we can do is guess as to what the story quest may be. |

And even then, the Kraken will never die ( same as the Goliath always comes back to haunt us
).As mentioned by MacIronhawk, nope. No evidence as of yet. GMs try their best to actually give us hints about what it will be like, etc, but since it hasn't come out (and I quote): |
