No he is not! Puppets don't proper have arm and leg movement. Their shots are only from the chest up. Big Bird gets full body shots. He can walk and grab things. Kermit, Gonzo, or Elmo can't.

It's like saying that The Temple of Doom falls in the Star Wars Umbrella because it was created by George Lucas. That doesn't matter. I have seen Kermit and all of the other Real Muppets do all sorts of things. They still don't have full control of their bodies. Big Bird does. Big Bird is in the same category as Barney.

The comparison is that they are in the same category as far as both not being Muppets. Same as the Teletubbies. They don't qualify as Muppets. Cookie Monster - Muppet. Snufflufagus - not Muppet. The Fraggles - Muppets. Big Bird - Not A Muppet.
