Woohoo! It's not the doll!

It's the quests for gold, ones that do not apply to moving forward in the game.

I made a pirate and did only the quests that would move me forward, was able to go in and out of all doors, I just equipped her with a doll and she's still able to go in and out of doors plus THE DOLL ROCKS!!!

I'm not sure yet. I did a few quest for gold before I started having the black door issue. Then it started after I bought a doll. I've sent the bug report for the door issue a few times, I've lost hope really... I guess I'm making a new pirate.

How does one use the doll? Put it in a weapon slot?

yes, I put mine in f3. if you are unable to equip the doll then it's bugged. I had that happen with three other pirates that I deleted for that reason.
then use your mouse to control the doll the same way you do your cutlass. you will earn right-click options as you go.

Perhaps you can convince Jack Sparrow to tellyou about the Treasure Chess Set.
Visit Jack Sparrow.
Reward Treasure Chess

So unless someone knows where Jack went after you take the "put together a crew" series of quests I'm stuck on this pirate.

I'll keep an eye out for Jack as I explore the different islands. What's that pirates' name with the dead monkey? I found him.

I need to find Jack Sparrow also to talk about a chess set. I think the pirate with the monkey is Barbosa. Has anybody been able to get a crab claw? I've killed a crab, but didn't get a claw.

Dropping the mercenary quest for the Treasure Chess does not resove the issues with the display problems.

I haven't. Did you get all your scorpions? The light keeps guiding me into the woods on Tartuga but there's something awful in that cave that keeps sending me back to the brig. I think after I get the scorpions the light will show me where to get the crabs. I did get a pistol and I intend to blow them up. I may need to get bombs.

I found the giant crabs back in the swamp on Tortuga. The regular crabs are just rock crabs. Of course, I still can't kill one alone.

Those are the ones I've trying to take down for days. We need a group of people help kill them.

thanks for the hint on the quests for gold. i made a new pirate and have been able to advance much farther in the game. of course i don't have much gold, i've just been plundering ships. i also got the doll and it works great. my new pirate is sarah stormwalker.

Plundering ships and digging up treasures on the islands is the only way I'm earning gold at the moment.

Digging up treasure won't cause bugs in the game?
