Talking what we can and can't talk about...

Ok, so ya, what can we talk about on here, or what can we not talk about. Lol, really whichever is easier to explain would be great. Thanks

Peace,
Jason

Talking

Ha, ok. Cool. Thanks. So I have to ask you guys. Or bring it up I guess

Ok. So you know how sometimes you'll see cars on the side of the road. Well sometimes they have other cars there and sometimes they don't. How many of us actually pull over. Not too many. Well I don't to often when it's day, but I do every-once-in-awhile. When it's night though I always do. Cause it would suck to be stuck and have noone pull over to help you at 11 at night. Ok. So lately the past 3 cars that I've pulled over for are just talking on thier phones and two of the three have gotten mad at me for pulling over. Is it wrong that I do this now. Should I stop pulling over for people? I mean come on. I go out of my way to try and help them and they get mad at me..... I don't know. I just wanna know what everyone thinks

Lol, sorry it was so long and didn't really pretain to Pirates

Peace,
Jason

Speaking as a women I would never pull over to help especially at night. I would maybe call the highway patrol and give the location and have them look into it.

I think it's pretty cool that you're willing to help people out. I don't stop when I'm by myself, but I like for my husband to when we're together. I'll sometimes stop for a young lady when she's alone, because I know how frightening that can be. Most people have cell phones now, and can call for assistance. As for stopping at night, I wouldn't simply because I'd be afraid to get hit by a passing car.

I don't see too many people being this nice. I would just be extra careful about who you approach and how. Calling highway patrol may be best in some situations, but if they just need a tire changed or a little gas, no need to get the police except to maybe make them aware that a vehicle is stopped on the shoulder.

As for the ones that get mad, don't get upset about it. I know it's a pain that you're trying to be nice and they get nasty. You have better character than they do. If it makes you feel good to stop and help, go for it. I could only HOPE to have someone like you come along if my vehicle broke down. You're a good person, don't let the crabby ones take away from that.

Jason you are one of the good guys. Don't let the turkeys get your down. Some people are only happy when they are being snarky to somebody. Like Katie said, if it makes you feel good stopping to help, ( and it is safe for you ) then by all means, offer your help.

After 7 years in retail, I learned my best defense against angry attitudes was to go the total opposite of them. Lay on the sugary-sweet niceness. The angrier they got, the nicer and happier sounding I got. I felt better and they just spun themselves up... serves them right if the get ulcers or something.....

Jason, never seen anything like this in the forums so far.... and if there are.... I haven't found it yet... LOL

But.

I have to say I would agree with Tandy

I often do pull over depending on how I feel about it at the time, and also if I have my daughter in my car as well. I have never been treated rudely by anyone though...

Also there have been PLENTY of times where I have gotten stuck on the side of the road... and often thought... why won't anyone stop? The last time this happened to me, I was 6 months pregnant, just got off of work, and had my almost one year old in the car with me and it was a very hot day. I left my cell at home that morning, and after trying to start the car numerous times, to no avail, I decided I needed to take her out of the car and start walking. There were these two ladies that just pulled right over after I probably walked 20 feet up the road, and asked if that was my car back there. They gave both me and my daughter a ride home, when we got there...I left my keys in my car! I will never forget how nice those ladies were.

All in all... I think the world could use more people like you and those ladies =)

I agree with malia, the world needs more considerate people.

I have been stuck in the middle of the Mohave desert on the highway shoulder and had to walk half a mile to get to one of those emergency phones to get a tow truck. Not one vehicle even slowed down to see if I needed help. When it's 110* + outside and you see someone walking on the side of the highway, at least slow down and ask if they need help... For all you know the hundreds of other cars that passed by might have left that person in seriously bad condition.

I have pulled over to help plenty of people as well, never came across someone that got mad. Even if they had it all handled themselves they thanked me for stopping.

Awesome. Thank you guys. I appreciate everything you've said. And about him getting mad. I think it was just because he was on the phone and he might of thought I rushed him. I don't know. I stopped again tonight and the guy was happy to send me on my way. He thanked me and continued with his phone conversation. That made me feel much better. Thanks again guys. You're the best

The same guy? Well I suppose that's better than him talking on his cell phone while driving.

I was about to say if it was the same guy and he was having car trouble he should get the looked into, lol. I agree with everyone though, use your judgement, and if you don't feel safe it is probably best not to. But I know if I saw someone who looked like they needed help I would at least check to see if they were ok and had everything under control. I know I would be glad to have someone do that for me if I was having trouble on the side of the road somewhere. I've passed several breakdowns on the way home from work over the past 4 years or so, but they almost always have another vehicle there with someone already helping them, so I don't stop. If someone would appear to be in need though I would stop to check as long as I wouldn't put myself in danger by doing so.
