Do you get Lag?

Raggghhh....I get so much lag (getting new computer soon though )

Mind you, I have 512mb RAM + 64 mb graphics card, where it says to have 1GB RAM + 128 mb graphics card.

But oh well!

Yes I get tons of lag, although not only am I on a slow computer I am also on dial-up. So I get lag and freezing a lot. Once I get home my wonderful computer and DSL await. 2 more weeks until then though. I am just so amazed that the game plays as well as it does, I have had about 1 or 2 days of almost lag free time in the last 2 weeks and I have heard a lot of people who are on better setups that have similar issues so it may not even be all on my end. Just makes the game even more amazing if it can handle the slower connections.

For the last 2 weeks the lag has gotten far better for me, although it still occurs. At first the game was barely playable, but now it's quite good. I expect as the devs continue to optimize code, add hardware, and cut back on logging it will continue to improve.

We'll see though, who knows what will happen when this thing is open to the public. It could come to a screeching halt.

Although, your computer could be part of the problem with your lag. I'm pretty sure I've seen POTCO use about 1GB of ram on my system, so you must be swapping to disk like crazy. I'll check it's usage the next time I fire it up.

With a 64MB video card you may want to cut the graphics all the way down to see if your lag improves, and then move them back up one notch at a time see how it effects the game.

I get lag at times, too. I have 1GB ram and a 128 graphics card. Sometimes I can run all over, and never lag. Other times, there is lots of lag. I have found when more players are on, the more lag there I get. It should improve when all the background programs aren't running (those checking all we do, etc. to develop the game). It is an addicting game!

Ok, fired it up this morning. It was using 750MB of RAM out of 4GB on a machine with a 256MB vid card.

So, some of your lag is most likely caused by 512MB of ram. I would not recommend upgrading until the game is finally released though, so all the logging/testing code is removed. That was you can see how your machine really performs with it.
